How it works

From enquiry to quotation in three stages

01

Tell us about the job

Submit the project description, quantity, material, required date and any drawings or CAD files.

02

We review and match it

We assess the requirements and select engineering companies equipped for the work — by process, material, capacity and project fit.

03

Discuss the quote

A selected engineering partner contacts the customer to clarify the job, confirm feasibility and provide a quotation.

Selected for the job

Your RFQ goes to shops equipped to quote it.

Every enquiry is assessed against its process, material, tolerance, quantity and delivery requirements. We then select engineering partners with the capability, capacity and commercial fit to take the job forward.

Carefully matched

Based on the job’s process, material, quantity, complexity and required timescale.

Less searching

One structured enquiry instead of approaching machine shops individually.

Selected engineering partners

Birmingham and West Midlands companies are considered according to their capabilities and preferred work.

No obligation

Frequently asked questions

Questions, answered plainly

How does the matching process work?

After an RFQ is submitted, Birmingham CNC Machining reviews the information and identifies one or more engineering companies that appear well suited to the job. A selected partner may then contact the customer to clarify the requirement and provide a quotation.

Is submitting an enquiry free?

Yes. Submitting an RFQ is free, and there is no obligation to accept any quotation received.

Do I need technical drawings or CAD files?

No. Drawings, CAD files and sketches are helpful, but customers can submit the information currently available. Further details can be clarified afterwards if required.

What types of projects can you help with?

Potential projects include prototypes, one-off components, small batches, production runs, CNC milling, CNC turning, EDM and other suitable precision-engineering work.

Do you only work with companies in Birmingham?

The primary partner network is focused on Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. The customer submitting the RFQ may be based elsewhere.

How quickly will I be contacted?

We’ll review the enquiry promptly. If further information is required, we’ll get in touch; otherwise, we’ll begin identifying engineering partners that appear well set up for the job. More complex requirements may take longer to assess.

Is my enquiry confidential?

Enquiries are handled carefully and are only shared with selected engineering partners where necessary to assess the job or obtain a quotation. The form includes the customer’s consent for this sharing.

Why use Birmingham CNC Machining instead of contacting companies directly?

Identifying the right machine shop can take time, particularly when specialist capabilities, materials, quantities or tolerances are involved. Birmingham CNC Machining provides one structured route for presenting the job and finding an appropriately equipped partner.

Will I receive multiple quotations?

Not necessarily. The aim is relevance rather than sending every enquiry widely. Depending on the job, one suitable partner may be approached, or additional companies may be considered where appropriate.

Have a machining job to discuss?

Send us the requirement once. We assess the job and select a Birmingham or West Midlands machine shop suited to the work.
